Make Your Lipstick Matte!

Matte lipsticks is the new trend at the moment for quite a while now. Personally, I am a huge fan of rocking matte lips especially because of the advantages it have. Majority of matte lipsticks doesn't transfer and the lasting power is amazing which I've always looked for in lipsticks. However, they can be drying on your lips. But who said you have to go and purchase one just because everyone else is? Liquid lipsticks can be quite expensive, particularly if you are a beginner or on a budget like me. Therefore, today I'm gonna share with you how to make your glossy lipsticks matte right at home. I'm pretty sure you have lipsticks hiding somewhere in the drawer. Bring them back to light! Your lipsticks and baby powder is all you need to mattify your lipsticks. These items are already at hand so no need to think about spending which is astonishing!

                                                                            After

Firstly, I like to line my lips with a lip liner, the similar color of the lipstick, and apply my lipstick after for a more define look but you can absolutely skip lining your lips. Afterwards, I set the lipstick with the baby powder using a brush or my fingers. If you have translucent powder available feel free to use it instead of the baby powder. When setting the lipstick with powder, use a patting motion for better results. Another thing is do not place a huge amount of powder. Begin with a small amount and apply it little by little until all the glossiness is gone. Ensure that the powder is completely patted into the lips A little tip is not to rub your lips together after applying the powder as the lipstick will become messy. The taste will not be pleasant on your lips as it is powder but that's fine unless you have a habit of licking your lips. Also the color of the lipstick you are using will change to a lighter color because of the powder. The advantages are the same as any matte liquid lipsticks you would purchase except that it may tend to wear off if you plan on eating.

I've seen tissue being used to turn lipsticks matte also. All you have to do is get a sheet of toilet paper or any soft tissue and blot you lips. Also you can use a brush and pat on some baby powder onto the tissue while it is placed on the lips. That works too but the lipstick slightly transfers.

I've once purchased Kat Von D everlasting liquid lipstick and worn it for 10 hours and I must say I was very impressed. The lasting power was amazing and it didn't dry out my lips at all. Although it was quite expensive for me to purchase, especially when it's converted to Guyana Dollars, I don't regret buying it. Try out these steps and give me a feedback on how you like it. Take care!
